Adding “Maria Jimenez Restaurante Mexicano” to the Rotation!

We tried out a new restaurant for our first night out in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico this year. I read some nice reviews and decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed at all. Family owned; we were warmly greeted at the door and immediately seated at our reserved table. Abuelo, who was our waiter, couldn’t have been kinder or more accommodating.

The dining room is nicely decorated, bright and comfortable. Everyone in the family, immediate and extended lends a hand and delivers warm and caring service. Our appetizer of guacamole and a variety of salsas with house made chips was promptly served along with their version of an amuse bouche. Guacamole is served at pretty much every restaurant in Cabo, but I never tire of it. Much to our delight, their version was very good. We were pleased to know they are now sporting a full bar, as their margaritas were quite delish and so was the sangria.

Having read the positive reviews on their flank steak dishes, I immediately looked for a choice in that direction. For an additional entree to share, I asked for a recommendation and their chicken with sauce especiale was suggested. My flank steak entree and all of its accompaniments were quite tasty but I must say that the chicken took top billing for me. The flavor of the sauce and tenderness of the chicken was absolutely sublime.

A bit of dessert and coffee was in order and I thought their coffee was terrific with a slight hint of cinnamon, dark and bold. The two desserts we tried were their flan, a traditional Mexican “sweet” and of course the much needed taste of chocolate. We ordered a slice of their chocolate cake served with a side of vanilla ice cream. Moist with a delicious frosting, the cake was a hit and so was the flan.

We were all quite satisfied with our experience at Maria Jimenez‘ restaurant and will definitely add it to our “must return” list!
