Be sure not to Sidestep the Sidecar Restaurant in SLO.

I can’t tell you how many times I have gone to Big Sky Cafe and never paid attention to the cute restaurant just a couple doors away. You must be sure not to sidestep the Sidecar Restaurant in SLO as you will definitely be impressed! From the street view looking into their restaurant you will see their natural and inventive decor, which will entice you to enter and see more. It is an extremely charming and comfortable spot. 

After being greated by our server, we were given a cast iron pot of truffle popcorn as an amuse bouche. It was fun and delicious!

The menu is small and creative offering a nice selection to chose from. Fried Brussel Sprouts was the first item that caught my attention and our server confirmed that it was a perfect choice. It is prepared with garlic aioli, blue cheese, balsamic reduction and thyme and was succulent and delicious!

Another favorite of mine are deviled eggs so I wanted to try their version. They mix the yolk with avocado and house ranch and top the eggs with bacon, chives and jalapeño. It was served on a wine stave which was super cool! I found the avocado a little overpowering but otherwise enjoyed the eggs.

I selected their Porchetta entree which consists of a roasted pork loin served with pieces of pork belly, baby bok choy and udon noodles with a sesame-5 spice glaze. Extremely yummy and the pork was moist and tender. The pork belly was a little sparse, but that did not diminish my satisfaction of the complete entree and the wonderful flavors of this dish.

A perfect ending to a delicious meal was their version of a bread pudding. It was the perfect amount of sweet and was super delicious.

All in all, this was an incredible meal. It would be a waste if this restaurant is overlooked because it is a great find!
