Great New Restaurant in Paso Robles – The Hatch!

So wonderful to have a new restaurant in town that is open late and has a friendly bar atmosphere along with really good food! The owners of The Hatch, Maggie and Eric, are great hosts and will make you feel right at home. They have a full bar with a list of creative concoctions to tantalize you. Their menu serves up updated comfort style food with the star being their amazing Hatch Half Chicken.

We’ve eaten there several times now and I have found my favorites, however I have not yet gotten to try their daily Monday-Thursday specials. They offer these while they last each night – 

Monday: Harissa-Rubbed Tri-Tip
Tuesday: Goat Tacos
Wednesday: Baby Back Ribs
Thursday: Leg of Lamb

So what have I tried so far? To start with, their Fire Grilled Avocado with lemon, sea salt and extra virgin olive oil is the bomb!

 The Cauliflower with hot dip, capers and parmesan – Fantastic!

Fish special – It was served with a variety of veggies, plated nicely over a tasty sauce. Great sear on the skin to give it a nice crispy texture, but cooked a bit more than my personal preference.

You absolutely can’t go wrong with their Hatch Half Chicken. It is nothing like what you get in those plastic containers under the heat lamp at your grocery store. This chicken is packed with flavor, juicy and delicious beyond compare! The buttermilk sauce that accompanies it is just the ticket to get you begging for more. 

What are some of my other favorites…? If you can get an order of their Chicharron before they run out, you will think you died and went to heaven! Ok, not on the diet menu, but worth every bite. The Shishito’s with sweet soy – wonderful. Butter Beans with smoked sausage, black kale, tomato, garlic bread crumbs – best ever! Their Ribeye with slaw, ember-roasted potatoes, pimento cheese might have been one of my best steaks ever and I ate it from take-out:) And if you want some real comfort food, order their Meatloaf with 64° egg, oven dried tomato. It will comfort even the saddest of souls.
