So excited for another “farm to table” restaurant on the Central Coast! The two brothers from the highly acclaimed restaurant – Artisan, in Paso Robles decided to expand in opening a second restaurant. The Kitchenette, is conveniently located close to the Kobayashi’s organic farm, helping to fulfill their commitment to serving local, organic, fair trade and sustainably raised agriculture.
The Kitchenette sells food ordered at the counter that is delivered to your seat. Seating is offered at tables both inside and out as well as seating at a counter inside. They open at 8:00 for breakfast and serve lunch until 2:00 PM. The menu is quite extensive and really interesting.
Now that we’ve got the basics out of the way, let’s talk about the food, which is what really matters!
A soothing cup of fresh vegetable soup simmering in a silky aromatic broth was our first taste. It was super yummy. Served alongside were two slices of scrumptious artisan bread. So good, so far!
I ordered a cappuccino and was offered to have it made with whole or almond milk. I was thrilled to have a healthy new option that I had never tried. So of course I opted for the almond milk and it was delish!
This salad was bright, vibrant and extremely fresh! I loved all of the add-ins – bacon, tomato, cucumber, soft boiled egg, blue cheese dressing. They served the cucumber seeded, which was a nice touch, the bacon crispy, the ruby ripe cherry tomatoes sliced in half, the egg perfectly prepared and the dressing with a citrus accent that was just the right amount. I loved this salad as it was simple, but perfect!
They made their own creative interpretation of a classic Bahn Mi sandwich with turkey, country pâté, pickled carrots, cucumber, herbs, and house sriracha mayo. The bread looked as though it would be overtaking the sandwich, but it didn’t at all. The texture was perfect and it was firm enough to hold all of the contents, yet pliable enough to easily eat. This sandwich was a success!
The best part of our experience was the emphasis on customer service. For a semi-self serve restaurant, we were visited and cared for more than at many fine dining experiences I have had. The restaurant was bustling with customers and they were still able to ensure that our every need was not only met, but exceeded. Impressive!

We enjoyed our lunch at The Kitchentte recently – Everything was delicious. I ordered the Lamb sandwich and it was tender, tasteful and well balanced with the excellent roll. SO nice to have a choice of lamb! It held up well to all of the add-ins and was just as good two days later for that half I just had to take home. Iced moca decaf capuccino was very refreshing….it was one of those hot days.
My husband the carnivor ordered the cheese burger and it was equally delicious. Service was great and we will return.
Hi Connie, thanks for your comments. Glad to hear you enjoyed it too! I’ll have to give the lamb and burger a try some time. Sounds yummy.
