So many choices for pizza in Chicago and what is a tourist to do? Maybe look for the restaurant with all of the people waiting outside? Well we knew one thing for sure – a visit to Chicago must include Chicago style pizza!!
We selected Giordano’s for their famous stuffed pizza. It is a well run operation and well worth the wait. After putting your name in at reception, they tell you how long to expect to wait and refer you to their pre-order counter. There you order your pizza ahead so that by the time you are seated, your pizza will be ready for you. What a great concept and it actually worked!
The restaurant looks and feels exactly as it should and has quite an abundance of seating. We ordered their Giordano’s House Salad with spring greens, romaine, arugula, baby heirloom tomatoes, radicchio and fresh fennel tossed in a light lemon vinaigrette with shaved asiago blend. It came adorned with chunks of bread made from pizza dough that were scrumptious. The salad was fresh and delicious. The dressing tasted homemade and went wonderfully with the salad. We ate every drop.
Then came the much awaited Famous Stuffed Pizza. We ordered ours with sausage, mushrooms and onions, which turned out to be a perfect combination of ingredients. I was quite surprised at how wonderful the pizza was. I expected to be underwhelmed and much to my amazement, the pizza was fantastic!
The cheesy goodness with just the right amount of ingredients on top of a tasty but not overly thick crust, topped with a minimal layer of a quite well seasoned delicious pizza sauce. Now I know what all the buzz is about! I’m sure I will soon be yearning for some more of that gooey lusciousness! And guess what…they ship all over the US!!
